To control systems of food allocation to minimise wastage. To operate and supervise other staff in order that all purchases are controlled within a specified budget. To ensure all food is prepared and served following the HACCP guidelines and principles. Principal Responsibilities To control stocks and purchases, thereby allocating the quantities of materials. To keep the purchase of materials within allocated budgets. To maintain a balanced diet and varied menus following the NHS LEEDS Food For Life Guidelines. To be aware of the residents’ needs and dietary preferences. To ensure that all kitchen staff are trained within the requirements of current legislation. To maintain the kitchen equipment, as specified by respective manufacturers. To ensure that all kitchen staff clean the kitchen after use and, at the end of each shift, leave the kitchen in a clean and hygienic state. To ensure that all kitchen documentation is completed on a daily basis To actively contribute in the preparation and cooking of food and the cleaning of the kitchen area. To perform other such reasonable duties as may be required. Helping in the care of the residents’ physical environment and in the general day to day activities of the home. Principal Responsibilities Carry out regular checks around the home at intervals determined by the Manager and with due regard for clients’ privacy. Carry out regular checks on the building with special reference to fire protection. Answer emergency bells, assess the situation, deal with the client seeking help or call upon the “On Call” staff. Assist care users who needs, help, reassurance or comfort. Assist care users preparing for bed and waking in the morning as directed. In the time available between attending to care users, undertake light domestic duties primarily in the fields of laundry and cleaning as directed. Read and write reports in case notes. Take part in staff meetings and training activities as directed. The jobholder is responsible for: Working with other staff to meet the personal care needs of residents in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence. Helping in the care of the residents’ physical environment and in the general day to day activities of the home. Supervise, mentor and monitor Care Assistants, as identified in the organisational structure for Care Assistants. Provide support to your identified Care Assistants and monitor their progress in their training and development. Identify the care needed for the residents on each shift and organise/delegate the delivery of the care needed. Administer the prescribed medications to the residents. Liaise with GPs, District Nurses and other professionals as necessary. Support the Home Manager in improving and maintaining the highest possible standard of care for the residents. Take an active role in care planning and ensure that care plans are reviewed as agreed. Ensure that all relevant documentation is completed as required/agreed.
